What About Hell And Demons on the path of TEST?
Here is my answer to a subscriber that was concerned about being deceived by teachings outside of the traditional church teachings.
Thank you for writing to me. I am not sure I can answer all your questions but I will try.
Last night, I had a dream in which I was meeting a large group of travelers who spoke many different languages. They were all believers but from different Christian organizations. I awoke thinking that there were so many different perspectives through which people practice their spirituality and who was I to judge the validity of their unique beliefs. All of these people seemed to love God. I enjoyed meeting all of them. In my dream, I wanted to photograph each one so that I could remember them but I did not have my camera with me nor did I know their names.
I have received several emails similar to yours asking me to comment on various beliefs that they hold and how it relates to what I am writing about on the blog. So, I guess the dream was God’s way of reminding me that God works through many systems and none of us have all the right answers.
With all that in mind, let me say that I can only share with you what I believe and the things that God has revealed to me on my spiritual journey. I know for certain that I do not have all the right answers but I am happy to share with you what I now believe to be true, at least for me where I am on my path.
I really do understand your concerns about being deceived and falling into some erroneous beliefs. There are so many different belief systems that people are selling and not all lead to a closer walk with God.
I sometimes think that someone created a system of beliefs after eating too much pizza late at night and having a bad dream that he or she considered to be a message from God! That is how crazy some seem to me. But honestly, I suspect my beliefs seem crazy to other people too!
I have already told my story on the blog. You can read more details about my story here. But I want to share part of my story in this post.
I was born into a Southern Baptist believing home. While my mother was Southern Baptist, my father did not attend church. My parents had decided to allow my mother to take us to her church for our religious training. It was not until later in life that I learned my father had a personal relationship with God and that he was very knowledgeable about the Bible.
My father practiced meditation and he believed in miracles. My mother’s church believed that the age of miracles had passed and certainly did not encourage meditation. Not surprisingly, I never saw any miracles in church but I did see miracles that were done through my father's faith.
I believed all that my mother’s church taught me until her death. Her death threw me into my “dark night of the soul” and I rejected everything I had learned about God and Jesus. I left the church and went into a 5 year depression that almost took my life.
It was a chance meeting with a man who was studying the blending of East and West spiritual beliefs that saved me from taking my own life. He taught me that I was not tied to my past but could create a better future for myself.
Over the years that followed, my search for truth took me from metaphysical teachings back to Christianity and back to New Thought. The path was like the Snake River with so many curves that it made my head spin.
I had promised God that I would do what He asked and go where He sent me. Eventually, I found my unique path and that is what I am teaching today.
My path is a blend of New Thought and more traditional teachings. I have discovered what I call the Essential Spiritual Truth that includes: the I AM Presence or God in us, The Law of Consciousness, and Jesus.
There are many ideas that I learned in my mother’s church that I now reject, at least in the way I was taught to understand them. There are also ideas I learned as a child that are still dear to my heart.
Answers to Your Questions
You asked me to specifically help you understand the concept of hell and demons. So let me try to address these issues.
Honestly, I do not understand the concept of hell or eternal damnation. Those ideas, even though they are mentioned in the bible, do not seem to line up with what I know to be true of the nature of God. The scriptures say that the mercy of God is from everlasting to everlasting. It also says that it is His will that all are saved. And of course, we know that God is love.
In addition, the concept of fire is used in the Bible to represent the presence of God such as the tongues of fire on Pentecost, the description of Jesus in Revelations, and the fire from heaven as a demonstration of God’s power. So, what does fire and hell mean? I don't have a revelation on this topic.
One great Christian Healer, John G. Lake, says that to focus on heaven and hell is a childish thing when God’s plan for the redemption of mankind is so much greater than simply missing hell. God ‘s will is to create a God Man, God and man as one, through the ministry work of Jesus Christ.
Many people say that the unsaved or unawakened man is already experiencing hell here on earth. Jesus came to give us the abundant life. He became a curse so that we can live under the blessing of God. That sounds like heaven on earth.
Jesus tells us that the Kingdom of heaven is within us. Could that be true of the Kingdom of hell too? I don’t know.
What I do know is that I am not afraid of going to hell or anxious to keep people out of eternal damnation. Instead, I am inspired to share the possibility of living the life Jesus came to make available to us… a life of a divine supernatural being of love, light and glory.
As to demons, let me start by saying that I am a ardent believer in celestial beings. The Bible does not talk much about them but I cannot imagine that the celestial realms are less diverse than the earth realms. The Bible does talk about angels and fallen angels. So there are probably other beings that occupy the lower spiritual realms also. I am not all that interested in beings of darkness but I don’t deny their existence any more than I deny the existence of evil minded men and women on earth.
But here is what is important to remember. Scriptures tell us that, “Greater is He that is when you then He that is in the world.” It also tells us that, “God did not give us a spirit of fear but of love, power and a sound mind.”
So, if I feel like I am threatened by evil from a celestial being or a human being, I remember that I don’t have a spirit of fear because I know that the greater power is in me and that I am ALWAYS safe.
Once in a dream, God told me that He had me in the palm of His hand and that there was no where I could go that He was not. So, if demons can try to irritate us or not does not matter to me because I can roll ALL my cares onto God who cares for me. I can declare that I am always safe and that no harm can come towards me. I can remember that Jesus became a curse so that I could walk under the blessing and the blessing includes all the protection I will ever need!
Seek God For Guidance
I hope this is helpful to you. What is really important here is that you must decide what you are going to believe. My choices can help guide you but it is ultimately up to you. I encourage you to ask God to help you, to guide you to the resources that will give you the insight you need today. The spiritual path is progressive. Not everything you learn today will be helpful to you tomorrow as your understanding expands.
There is a Truth but most of us are only seeing an angle of truth. However, you can trust God to guide you to what you are ready to receive and then lead you further along your path. If you miss it, God will still protect you from harm and nudge back to the right path.
God loves you. He cares for you as an individual. The Presence of God in you is available at all times to provide whatever you need. Trust in God. Lean on God. Roll all your cares onto Him. God will NEVER leave you or forsake you.
